If you're flying out of Incheon Airport, there is an easier option than carrying your suitcase all the way to the airport.
If you meet the requirements, you may be able to check in and drop your luggage at Seoul Station first.
Then you can take the AREX Express to Incheon Airport without dragging a heavy suitcase around.
Even if you cannot use the Seoul Station City Airport Terminal, AREX Express is still one of the easiest ways to get from central Seoul to the airport.
Quick Answer
AREX Express runs directly from Seoul Station to Incheon Airport.
It has reserved seating and avoids Seoul traffic completely.
If your airline and flight are supported by the Seoul Station City Airport Terminal, you may also be able to check in and drop your luggage at Seoul Station before taking the train.
The ride takes about 43 minutes to Terminal 1 and about 51 minutes to Terminal 2.
Why AREX Is Easy on Departure Day
The biggest advantage is simple.
No traffic.
Airport buses and taxis are convenient, but travel time can change depending on road conditions.
AREX Express follows a fixed train schedule, so it is much easier to plan your airport arrival time.
You also get a reserved seat, which is useful when traveling with luggage.
Booking Your AREX Ticket
You can buy an AREX Express ticket at the station, but I prefer booking it before heading to Seoul Station.
It saves time and you already know which train you are taking.
One option is to book through Klook.
After purchasing, you can activate the ticket in the Klook app, choose your travel date and train, and receive your QR code and seat information.
The ticket can be used in both directions:
Incheon Airport → Seoul Station
Seoul Station → Incheon Airport

Seoul Station to Incheon Airport by AREX
At Seoul Station, follow the signs for Airport Railroad / AREX Express.
Be careful not to confuse it with the regular all-stop airport train.
The AREX Express has its own ticket gates and platform.
Once your ticket is ready, scan the QR code at the gate and head to the platform.
I would still check your departure time before leaving your hotel so you do not arrive at Seoul Station too late.

The Tip Many Foreign Travelers Miss
This is the part that can make your departure day much easier.
If your airline, flight, and other conditions qualify, foreign travelers can also use the Seoul Station City Airport Terminal.
That means you may be able to:
Check in → drop your checked luggage → complete departure immigration → take AREX to Incheon Airport
So instead of carrying your suitcase all the way through Seoul and the airport, you may be able to leave it at Seoul Station first.
Eligible passengers can also use a dedicated departure entrance at Incheon Airport before going through security.
Not every airline or flight qualifies, so check the conditions carefully.

If you are staying near Seoul Station, or can reach it easily, AREX Express is one of the easiest ways to get to Incheon Airport.
It is especially useful on departure day because you know roughly how long the train ride will take.
And if you qualify for the Seoul Station City Airport Terminal, the trip becomes even easier.
Check in, drop your suitcase, and travel to the airport much lighter.
